The ancient tongue has little resemblance to modern language, but is the root of most modern words. Typically the ancient tongue isn’t spoken anymore, but is sometimes used by scientists to name things. Also some old places, items, or countries often have names carried over from the ancient tongue.
The ways in which the ancient tongue are used varies by location and group;
Baladras: The language isn’t really spoken anymore, except by some very isolated monasteries of the Poor Monks, who prefer it’s purity. It typically is only seen when the religions of Baladras make mention of archaic places, things, titles, or ceremonies, especially when they want the people to get interested.
Blacksoul: Occaisionally the Blacksoul Army will have a fancy sounding name in the ancient tongue for one of their procedures involving killing large groups of people. Otherwise the ancient tongue is a dead language which serves no real purpose. However, in the Scentia Medicus all the writings are in the ancient tongue, and to follow this path one must become very fluent in the language.
